Why Good Copywriting Is Important

The sale letter you flaunt is the axis on which your business depends. The success of your sales operation depends upon your sales letter no matter what you are selling, whether the sale is taking place online or offline. People who chose to ignore the importance of this critical piece of business communication end up suffering in the sales department. Many times it has occurred to me that I get exited about a product from the copywriting and when I proceed to the sales page, it disappoints me so much that I give up any plans of purchase I had. I am sure that this has happened many times to you too. Why does this happen? If the product is great, does it really matter if the sales letter fails to make an impression on the customer? Apparently, it does matter very much as far as the customer is concerned.

1. Even if a customer just loves the product, he would hesitate to make a purchase unless he gets an explanation as to how the product will help him solve his problem. No customer would purchase a product blindly without understanding what it is and what it can do for him no matter how much he likes it.

2. Even thought the customer likes the product as such, he may want to know more about the seller who is peddling it before he jumps into the fray and makes a purchase. The easiest way to build credibility is through a carefully thought out sales letter purpose built with this criteria in mind.

3. The poor quality of a sales letter makes a bad impression on the customer. What it means to the customer is that either you are incapable of even writing a proper sales letter or that you simply don’t care enough. This could turn the customer away from the sales page altogether.

4. A distinct factor that turns customers off is hype and hard-sell. It could end up costing you big if you thrust the product upon the customer.

5. An important way in which the credibility of a product can be increased is by giving a strong guarantee. A weak guarantee leads the customer into losing trust in your company and the product or service it sells.

6. A strong positive call for action

All these points are just a reminder to how substandard copywriting can end up making huge losses for you in sales. The time and attention invested in a sales page will produce high returns in the long run. Simply put, a sales page should optimally close the sale without turning the customer off.
